Leaving Alma Primary School, riders will travel along a short tar road to the outskirts of town, before turning onto gravel roads again. This stage has seen a complete revamp from 2017, to try and minimise corrugations. The initial part of the stage sees riders climbing over several smaller undulating hills while gaining overall altitude untill they reach a small pass called "die noute". Leaving Die Noute riders traverse another small climb with typically deteriorated road surfaces before gradually climbing to the end of the stage. Riders climb 505m over the short stage of 43km.
